At Artefact, we manufacture bags and accessories from technical materials sourced from the outdoor industry : kitesurfing wings, Zodiac canvas, climbing ropes, neoprene wetsuits…

These materials are originally designed to withstand the most demanding conditions: wind, salt, UV, abrasion.

However, at the end of their life, 0% of these products are recycled. Rather than destroying them, we give them a second life.

We work with several major outdoor brands such as Patagonia, The North Face or Arc'teryx to give a second life to some of their technical equipment.

Despite their incredible quality, some of these products end up becoming irreparable or unusable : irreversible defects, returns for after-sales service, prototypes, production waste…

Rather than destroying them, these brands choose to entrust them to us. We recover the still-performing materials and transform them into new products.

This is a concrete way to extend the life of technical materials , while preventing them from becoming waste.

Each Artefact product is designed to be strong, functional and repairable .

Our approach is simple:

1. Sourcing : we recover unused or end-of-life technical materials (jackets, kite wings, down jackets, production offcuts...)
   
2. Preparation : these materials are sorted, cleaned and cut in integration companies or ESATs in France.
   
3. Manufacturing : the materials are then assembled into new products in partner workshops. They are experts in the manufacture of technical products and are located in Portugal (80%), France (15%), and Slovakia (5%).

The result: robust, unique and durable bags and accessories , designed for everyday use as well as for adventure.

The outdoor industry produces tons of technical materials each year that are difficult to recycle. At Artefact, we have chosen a different path: upcycling.

Unlike recycling, which chemically transforms matter and requires a lot of energy and water, we directly reuse existing technical materials , preserving their performance.

This allows us to:

_ Extend the lifespan of materials already produced
Avoid manufacturing new materials
_ Create unique products , with a story

Artefact was born from the meeting of outdoor and product design enthusiasts.

Through sailing, driving, traveling and repairing our own equipment, we have been struck by a simple reality: even the most technical equipment eventually ends up being discarded, sometimes for a minor defect, sometimes because it is no longer repairable.

Rather than seeing them destroyed, we started recovering these materials to transform them into bags and accessories. What began as an experiment among friends gradually became a business.

Today, our team brings together complementary profiles: designers, product developers and outdoor sports enthusiasts with the same idea in mind: to design solid and useful products, giving a second life to technical materials.
